These unique pictures are copies of glass negatives.

The photographer was the Jamaican Samuel Augustus Grainge.

He came to Norway around 1890 and worked for the photographer Thea Nielsen in Grensen 2, Kristiania (today Oslo).

The photos turned up during a tidying up of old stuff.

The picture to the right shows Samuel reading Morgenposten.
