Los Angeles, California,

Los Angeles covers a total area of 502.7 squre miles (or 1,302 km2 ).It is the seat of Los Angeles County, which is the most populated county in USA. The population in the region refered to as Los Angleles is about 19 million (2018). The coastal area of Los Angeles was settled long befor the area in 1542 was clamed by the Spanish Empire. From 1821 to 1847 the city was part of Mexico, that got its independence from Spain in 1821. As a result of Mexican-Americen War, the "Americans" took control of the region in 1847.

Today the the city and the county are characterized by mostly low-rise buildings, due to the risc of earthquakes. The county is located on the Pacific Ring of Fire; a geologic instability which produce approximately 10,000 earthquakes annually.
